Write for us

We welcome considered pitches about the places, customs and shared experience of cinema-going. Send proposals through the Contact page, with enough detail for us to understand the subject and the shape of the piece.

What we welcome

We are interested in clear, original essays and explainers about cinema spaces, filmgoing customs, screen history, shared rituals and the ways screening formats affect an outing. Strong contributions bring a distinct question, useful context and a reader in mind.

A good pitch

Tell us the working idea, its central point and why it suits Grand Screen Culture. Include a short outline, the kind of material you would draw on and a note about any relevant interests or relationships. Keep the proposal focused rather than sending a full draft unless we have asked for one.

Before sending

Submissions should be original, carefully checked and written in clear English. Avoid unsupported claims, promotional copy and material that depends on permissions you do not have. A pitch is a proposal, not a promise of publication.

The house view

The cinema is part of the story

A room, a ticket, a pause in the day: the experience around a film can be as telling as the images on screen.
